Health Inequalities Project

Funded by Elevate CDHN

Over the past eight months, we had the privilege of working alongside Elevate CDHN on our Health Inequalities project. This initiative was rooted in mentorship and collaboration, with a clear focus on tackling the persistent health inequalities that affect our communities.

Through Elevate’s support, we were able to:

  • Provide mentorship opportunities that empowered participants to grow in confidence and leadership.
  • Create spaces for dialogue and learning, where community voices shaped the direction of the work.
  • Strengthen our collective efforts to address barriers to health and wellbeing.

The journey with Elevate CDHN was not only impactful but also deeply rewarding. Their commitment to supporting grassroots projects allowed us to continue building meaningful connections and delivering work that makes a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to CDHN for believing in our vision, supporting the work we do, and providing the funds that enable us to sustain and expand our efforts in the community.

Together, we are moving closer to a future where health inequalities are challenged, and every voice is valued.

Safe Haven- Ending Violence Against Women and Girls – Growing Support Across Belfast

Belfast City of Sanctuary, in collaboration with iAssist NI, is proud to see our Ending Violence Against Women and Girls initiative gaining momentum across the city.

In recent weeks, a number of key city leaders and partners have formally endorsed the campaign by signing our Certificate of Endorsement, pledging their support to build a Belfast where every woman and girl can live free from fear and violence, regardless of background or origin.

We are honoured to have the support of:

  • MLA Stewart Dickson
  • MLA Paula Bradshaw
  • Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Paul Doherty
  • Gerry Turbbit, CEO, Ballynafeigh Community Development Association
  • Maura McClean, Communities Officer, Macmillan Cancer Support

Their public endorsement sends a powerful message that ending violence against women and girls is a shared responsibility – across government, community organisations, and wider society.

To everyone who has stood with us so far: thank you for your continued support.

And a special thank you to Belfast City Council for their ongoing partnership and commitment to making Belfast a safer, more welcoming city for all.

Together, we will keep raising awareness, challenging harmful attitudes, and supporting women and girls who deserve to live in safety, dignity and freedom.
